Day 1: Stone Town & Prison Island Exploration
Your adventure begins with a hotel pick-up by a professional Utele Safari guide and transfer to Stone Town. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided walking tour through the narrow streets and historic buildings that reflect Zanzibar’s unique blend of African, Arab, Indian, and European influences. Visit iconic landmarks including the Old Fort, House of Wonders, Sultan’s Palace, Darajani Market, the former Slave Market, Freddie Mercury House, and Forodhani Gardens while learning about the island’s fascinating history and culture.
After exploring Stone Town, board a traditional wooden boat and cruise across the crystal-clear waters to Prison Island. Upon arrival, visit the famous giant Aldabra tortoise sanctuary, where some tortoises are over a century old.
